Our Story
KK and AD started Akron Aoton in 2014 as a space where craftsmanship meets contemporary sensibility. We create both functional and decorative pieces, shaped by a quiet Japanese influence that informs our larger forms as well as our selection of everyday objects.
Our work is rooted in constant experimentation. By leaning into high-temperature firing techniques—like raku and reduction firing—and developing our own glazes by hand, we make sure every piece carries its own soul. Rather than seeking total control, we embrace the unexpected, letting the material itself guide the process.
Akron Aoton continues to evolve as both a working studio and a shared creative hub. Alongside our own production and commissions, we run ceramic classes, bringing together a community built around the process and the understated beauty of handmade expression.
